Seasonal Use, Exceptions & Pairings

It seems obvious that yukiwa would be a winter motif, but it can also be employed in summer to lend a sense of cooling to a yukata.

Since this motif is often used as a border to contain other motifs, when flowers from all four seasons are pictured it becomes all season.

Common Motif Pairings

Identification & Style Variations

If the scalloped edges of yukiwa are present but the motif is an arc instead of a circle, the motif is yukishiba, grass with snow.
