Seasonal Use, Exceptions & Pairings

Motif Connotations & Symbolism

The plant is named "river bone" after its resemblance of leg or arm bone sticking from river mud. Such a sight would have been not uncommon in eras of frequent battles.

Identification & Style Variations

A single round bud sticks out of the water on a sturdy stem and blooms with five round petals. Its natural colour is a bright yellow. A flower depicted in natural style has a bunch of inwards-curling thingies in the centre. Leaves resemble those of the water lily with an oblong shape with a rounded deep indent on the inner end; they may float or stick out of the water stiff and at an angle.
