Due to the massive traffic Immortal Geisha has received - I have
moved the website to a new server that should be able to handle
the traffic without exceeding bandwidth. As a result, I have decided
to use this opportunity to finally re-program the website into PHP
rather than Cold Fusion.
I apologize for any glitches that may happen during the reprogramming
- and it certainly explains why the website has been slow or down
for the last couple of weeks. Please be patient with us while we
are making the programming transition. I promise it will be worth
while!

In addition to working on new items for Immortal Geisha, I have been working hard on some of my other projects. I would like to take a moment to introduce you to my other website:

Over the course of my research of geisha and maiko for the Immortal Geisha website, I've developed a deep passion for traditional Japanese clothing and textiles. There is something very unique about the colour and pattern combinations that immediately caught my attention.
I've always enjoyed textile/fashion design and sewing ever since
I was a young girl, so it feels as though a natural progression
would be to find myself working with kimono fabric. I have decided
to concentrate on working with reclaimed fabric from vintage kimono
that are unwareable. This way, the fabric can be created into something
new and appreciated for many more years in it's new form.
I make a wide variety of items ranging from traditional tsumami
kanzashi and kimono accessories to contemporary bags, necklaces,
kimonolets, pouches and many other items. In addition to PuchiMaiko
items - the Immortal Geisha prints will be sold through this website
once they have been re-stocked.
Of course, the kimono worn by geiko and maiko inspire me greatly
as I find they are often more traditional in feel than many contemporary
kimono are. I have also found that my years of research and my vast
vintage photograph collection has allowed me to develop a keen eye
for pleasing combinations. I often find myself preferring to produce
more traditionally Japanese inspired items by way of colour and
patterns than Western. There is just something about pairing unusual
colours together to create a harmonious finish - much like putting
a kimono ensemble together!
I hope you enjoy looking through PuchiMaiko as much as I enjoy creating these items.

Editorial Section
Today heralds the launch of a new Editorial section on
Immortal Geisha. Between both Fushu Daiko and my endless curiosity/
and intense need to experience what I research, I am often left
with rather interesting thoughts and events I wish to write about.
It is one thing to read about the life and various elements of geisha
culture...it is another thing to experience the elements yourself.
Unfortunately the editorials don't quite fit in with the research
mode of the existing articles.
This new editorial section enables me to
step outside of that research article mode and enables me more creative
freedom. You'll find all sorts of interesting things here ranging
from my first experience with Nightingale droppings to hairstyling
to costume creation and many more. I hope you enjoy this section
as much as I enjoy writing it!

put WHAT on your face?"
