Some of you already have experience in this, now it's time to dazzle us with your fabulosity all over again.

Even if you don't have the proper wafuku to cross-dress, try making a more "manly" or more "girly" outfit! Ladies, get out your subdued colours and geometrics, tie your obi nice and low on the hisp. Gents, go for the showiest patterns and colours you have, and accessorize away!

There are currently in the photo gallery thread as well (I didn't know this thread existed honestly XP) haha anyway was I need a break form hw yesterday so I took my bfs kimono and tried it on =). Its not propper wafuku, I didn't pad or use eri shin, or even a haori

It really small for him (he wanted something affordable and his wing span was hard to come by)... but his kimono seems to be almost the perfect size for me =)

polinah, when you finally manage to get your boyfriend dressed up in that ensemble, you should post pictures so we can compare the both of you! :D I think you wear it more nicely than he could (even though I haven't seen him in it yet), so I vote you get to keep it all! At least it'll save the kimono from being used as sleepwear...

Angels-tale, a couple of observations: are you wearing an obi? A centimetre or two should be showing above the waist of the hakama. Also, I'm not sure if there's a tutorial somewhere, but the ends of your hakama-himo should either be tucked one to each side or made into an itchi monji or juu monji.

Hi James, thankies for the advice =D am not wearing an obi as I cant find a plain white one to go with my hakama, grr. So I to get a white fabric tie to hold my hakama shita closed, and am wearing a hakama shita (the blue kimono). Oh and my hakama-himo needs to be tyed this way at the front as Taichi Saotome has his tyed like that when hes playing a Samurai, heres the link of him (my fav vid too XD) > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Hpmk7R ... re=related. Hope this all helps Plus am cosplaying kenshin Himura too,lol but i need to go get light grey hakama too XD

If it's cosplay I guess you have to follow the model, but for men's kitsuke your obi doesn't need to match your hakama. By the way, I think Ryu has some white men's obi in his shop right now, and there might be a white kaku obi listed on eBay too.

ETA: there is. Here's the listing.

Me in my husband's kimono! I wanted to try on the whole men's kimono ensemble with hakama and everything but I've been super busy lately so no time for proper kitsuke  So I tried to do something quick and more feminine instead.

I took the pictures with self-timer and I just couldn't fit myself in the picture. Lower part here :)

:) I hope I can still add to this thread - I happened to be repairing my ex husband's kimono set and I asked if I could play around in it while it was here!
Boy, does he need hakama or something...

He didn't send his geta with, so I'm shoeless. :ohno:

I think this is the first time any of you get to see what I look like! 8-O

Also, fear my teddy.

This is a character from a book I'm writing. She's actually female, but she looks like a boy, and a lot of people mistake her as a male. She also speaks very male. I guess it counts.

Projecthikari, how did you wrap the sarashi on your chest? Did it seem to stay well?

To be honest, it's not Sarashi. It's just Johnsons and Johnsons Bandaging from the store. I simply wrapped it super tight, and tucked the rest in.

Very pretty kimono Whitethistle, Iromuji's are so multifuctional

I'm alone this evening and cleaning up my kimono closet a bit, when I stumbled upon this men's yukata that I bought last year. It was suppose to be for my boyfriend but it's way to small for him (him being 192cm tall). So I thought "Hmm, why don't I grab his tatami zori, do a men's kitsuke and have some fun" So I did...

I even tried to force a belly a bit, did not totally work out though
Image

I tried to flatten my breasts as good as possible. So here with the top I had underneath and one shoulder kimono-less
Image

FLEX! Me strong!
Image

Later with a normal top, and all the manliness was....uhm...eh...replaced  scandalous *beep*
Image

Sorry for the crappy photo quality btw :P

Aw, you both look great, Kouhiko! Why is a woman in men's kimono & hakama sexy, too?! It suits you, actually. You look like you're dressing like a bad-ass chick from some Japanese samurai movie.

So here's my try.

I'm very curvy so obi didn't stay under my belly samuraiXD

All in all little messy, I still have to practice more.
But I had fun, dressing in mens cloth. Felt like travelled back in time^^

Thought I would revive this thread with some pictures looking man-shaped in some iaido gear :)
I actually used a tomesode instead of a gi ... and then I spiced things up. Tried to look a bit ronin-esque, if that even makes any sense. Wish the pics were a bit brighter though ...
