1. The Warning System
We work here on a "three strikes, you're out" philosophy. This is a total of three official warnings per individual, regardless of if the infraction took place on the forums or in the Facebook group.

In addition, there are certain behaviours that will result in a no-warning-issued temporary ban or outright permanent ban.

The moderating team prefers not to have to issue official warnings for unintended or accidental minor infractions and will carefully review any reports and may choose to issue an unofficial warning or “heads-up” with regard to the situation rather than an official warning. The moderating team, does, however, retain the right to upgrade the unofficial warning to an official warning if follow-up behaviour deems it necessary.

Below is a list of behaviour that can result in a warning or ban. Those marked with an * asterisk mean the moderating action taken is dependent on the severity of the infraction.

What behaviour will result in a warning?
  • Offensive and/or aggressive attitude to members and moderating team *
  • Flaming
  • Discussion of prohibited topics
  • Request for help with schoolwork
  • Baiting *
Please visit the Rules and Unacceptable Behaviour thread for an in-depth explanation for each of the above.

What behaviour will result in a temporary ban?
  • Offensive and/or aggressive attitude to members and moderating team*
  • Receiving a total of three official warnings from any repeated warning infraction
  • Lying / Making false claims*
  • Unofficial moderating of member behaviour via private message system or other messaging service*
  • Blocking any member of the Facebook moderating team on Facebook.
  • Continual refusal to reply to forum moderator private messages.
  • Baiting *
Please visit the Rules and Unacceptable Behaviour thread for an in-depth explanation for each of the above.

What behaviour will result in a permanent ban?
  • Offensive and/or aggressive attitude to members and moderating team*
  • Trolling
  • Spamming
  • Scamming
  • Bigotry
  • Racism
  • Plagiarism
  • Piracy
  • Slandering (of members or moderating team, on or off site)
  • Stalking (of members or moderating team, online or offline)
  • Compromising or attempted compromising of Immortal Geisha websites
  • Unofficial moderating of member behaviour via private message system or other messaging service*
Please visit the Rules and Unacceptable Behaviour thread for an in-depth explanation for each of the above.

2. What Happens When a Warning or Ban is Issued?

Unofficial Warning
You will receive notification from a member of the moderating team explaining the situation. In some cases this may require discussion to ensure the member understands. If the situation requires discussion, you will have 72 hours (three days) to reply to the moderator. Failure to do so may result in an official warning.

Official Warning
A member receiving an official warning will be notified via the warning system that they have received a warning and why.

Three Official Warnings
A member receiving three official warnings for infractions will receive a month-long temporary ban from both the forums and Facebook group. You will receive notification from one of the moderating team members either via private message and/or email informing you of the temporary ban. Additionally, the forum reporting system will display the reason why you have been issued a temporary ban when you try to access it.

Temporary Ban
Outside of receiving three strikes, a temporary ban may be issued, without warning, depending on the severity of the infraction. This temporary ban is applied to both the forums and Facebook group.

Members will be notified and informed clearly on why they have received a temporary ban, whether the ban is dependent on further moderating team discussion or not, and when they will be welcomed back. Additionally, the forum reporting system will display the reason why you have been issued a temporary ban when you try to log in.

You will receive notification from one of the moderating team members either via private message and/or email informing you of the temporary ban. Additionally, the forum reporting system will display the reason why you have been issued a temporary ban when you try to log in.

Permanent Ban
Committing an infraction that results in a permanent ban will see the member banned permanently from both the forums and the Facebook group. Permanent bans can be issued without warning. Depending on the reason, you may or may not receive a private message and/or email notification, however the forum reporting system will display the reason why you have been issued with a permanent ban when you try to log in.

3. Timeframe for Moderator Questions or Request for Clarification
When a report is submitted, a member of the moderating team may need to contact the Reporter and/or Reportee with further questions or a request for clarification.

Once contacted, each party has three days (72 hours) to respond. If you do not respond within three days and can offer no viable excuse the following will happen:

Reporter: the report may be closed and no further action taken.
Reportee: the Reportee member will receive an automatic official warning with no chance to discuss further.
