Any rules regarding komon kimono prints?

Cloverrain

I was look around for a nice Komon, and ofcourse there is a lot to choose form.
That got me wondering, is there anything to take into account when buying a komon? I mean things like, busy patterns for younger women, large quiet colours for older women? Maybe busy patterns make it more/less formal? Maybe anything is possible?

Bright, large, bold patterns are usually for younger women, and smaller patterns in more subdued colours tend to be favoured by older women.

Komon embellished with bits of gold or metallic dye or embroidery would be more formal than ones without, and fabric helps too. Things like wool, muslin, etc are much more casual than a nice silk.
