Generally hanging your items is not recommended. No matter how you hang them. :sad:
Gravity can pull the seams into weird angles and it shows after a while. :unsure:
Folding is always the best.

I used a ton of those Shinei bags (with the kitty on) to move my stuff.
One bag could hold 6-8 obi so with a 60+ obi collection you only need about 10 bags ^^ Quite handy!

So I just keep a stash of those in case I need to move again. :sword:

Is it weird to wear a kimono where the yuki (裄 - distance from the seam in the back of a kimono to the end of the sleeve) is kinda short ? Normally I need 78-82 cm, but seeing so many interesting kimono's with a sleeve width of around 70-73.. makes you doubt For us taller people we don't have a lot...

You can certainly dress it up to komon level by adding a juban underneath. GeiMaiko indeed wear nagoya obi with it, personally I have not done this myself when I wore yukata as is.. Katsunas Erikae will be on May 18th ! According to someone on Instagram, she will become Jikata instead. I'm a bit sceptical about it because it comes from a person who doesn't always either knows the truth or says the truth. Nonetheless I am really excited to see her as Geiko :love: :love: :love:

Kikushino became a Maiko in 2010 actually, and a Geiko in 2015

I searched for a pic of her as Geiko (there aren't many of her sadly) and these are from her Erikae

Kikuyu did become a Geiko at the end of 2009 but quit in 2012 :) She's a happy mother of 2 now ^^

It is gross, yes, indeed. :eyeroll: But natural :twitch: The spot however is right next to the seam, so there sadly is not much pulling the layers apart from eachother. The lining is plain white cotton so indeed nothing dyed or anything. And I don't really want to post pics of this given it's.... na...

Seems this topic has mainly it's focus on your own blood.. But my Geiko juban has well... menstruation blood on it, ofcourse it's all dry and rather dark.. the lining is cotton however it has also leaked into the silk layer.. How am I going to remove it on both sides without destroying the silk? I d...

Tahanala There are several kinds and if I'm not mistaken, they are called maezashi. The most distinctive one is the jade tsunagi-dango (linked dumples) worn only by Gion Kobu maiko under 20. Little edit on that, it is actually worn by GK Maiko under age 18, not 20. Once they reach the age of 18 it ...

I believe hers was on the 4th of September, atleast in the first 10 days of September.

Hoping the mods will be able to bring over the thread that already had a huge list (going back to 2001!) Since a lot could be added to that
