The Life of a Geisha
by Eleanor Underwood
Smithmark Publishing
ISBN: 0765117398

The Life of a Geisha is a very pretty book with lots of pictures ranging from prints to turn of the century postcards to photos of modern day geisha. The pictures are accompanied by various bits of poetry and song.

Information wise though, the book really does not contain anything that you would not already know if you have read other books about geisha. One thing that bothered me a lot with it was the constant reference to the "geisha" in Arthur Golden's book "Memoirs of a Geisha" as though she was a real person, rather than being fictional. Whilst it offers nothing new by way of geisha information or history, it is quite a nice visual reference to have in your collection.
