If you are a regular on the Immortal Geisha Forums, you most likely know that I enjoy collecting kimono and practicing kitsuke.
I recently had the chance to finalize my own kitsuke website: www.kimonoasobi.com. I chose blog format for this particular website as it seemed the most efficent way to update and not only will it include photographs of my collection and ensembles, but eventually it will have tutorials, book reviews and other interesting tidbits.

Please feel free to visit, and I hope you enjoy!

Wow! It is almost the end of the year already - time sure has flown!
Just the other day I realized that Immortal Geisha website has been up for 6 years and 3 months, and the forum has been open for over 5 of those years.
Back when I first started the website, I never thought it would become the community it has. Not is it just a community for people who are interested in the history and lifestyle of geisha, but it has grown into a community for those interested in all different aspects of traditional Japanese art. What I like about this community though is that our arms are open to everyone, whether you're an expert or not. The focus is always on learning, sharing and improving. This is more than I could have ever hoped for when Immortal Geisha first launched.
One area of particular in this growth is that I've noticed as my interest in collecting kimono and practicing kitsuke has grown, so has that section on the forum. The kimono and kitsuke section has now become the most active area, and quite possibly the most active English language kimono forum. We have a wide variety of members in this section that all join together daily to discuss our passion for kitsuke - some have written books in relation to kimono, some have learnt kitsuke from kitsuke sensei in Japan, some have learnt kitsuke simply from reading books, some collect kimono for the pure beauty of the textiles and others don't own any kimono - but love and appreciate them. So while we all come from very different kitsuke backgrounds and countries - we all learn so much from each other. If you have an interest in kimono, or learning how to dress - I strongly encourage you to pay us a visit - we work hard to make sure the community remains friendly and welcoming, and I think you may just find many new friends.
I know updates to the main site have been slow for a little while and this was a combination of massive lifestyle change and moving from one side of the country over to the other.
I have quite a few projects, scans and updates to add to the website - it is a matter of finding the time to do so. With that said, over the next few months, I'm going to try and get a healthy update done for the website...in the meanwhile - please feel free to join and participate at the forums!
Last, but not least, due to the large amount of spam mail to the main Immortal Geisha email account, I've switched to Gmail. The new contact address for Immortal Geisha is:
immortalgeisha.com *at* gmail *dot* com
The username IS immortalgeisha.com (with the period), just replace the *at* and *dot* with the appropriate symbols.
Kind Regards,
Naomi~
